Contraception
What is a diaphragm?
A diaphragm is a silicone cup containing spermicide that is placed over the cervix prior to sexual intercourse. This is a contraceptive which prevents sperm from entering the uterus. This is done by using a gel with it that kills sperm known as spermicide. This needs to be fitted as they come in different sizes. Due to the need of insertion and removal it is a lesser requested type of contraception. During the menstrual period, the diagphram should be avoided because of a probable relation to toxic shock syndrome.
