Drugs & Sex
I feel like my sex drive is lacking. Should I take a supplement?
Supplements are not, by and large, the lifesaver that many claim to be. Many of them have not been scientifically tested and may rely more on the placebo effect, wherein the effect is entirely psychological and not physical. This does not mean they might not help - after all, most of our sexual function is in the brain - but it does mean that they’re not physically getting to the problem. It could be that part of your low libido is due to pain during sex or an effect of other medications you are taking, such as antidepressants. It could even be that you feel anxiety or pressured to perform sexually. Talking with your partner about these feelings can help you plan for a more pleasing experience.
